Haven’t really been sleeping properly lately I think I am still sleeping Australian time because I have been chatting to people back home pretty often and they aren’t online until early hours of the morning. I have to stop this habit if I want my Spanish to get any better. Anyway, I met our maid this morning, she is lovely. She makes my bed, gives me a fresh towel every day and cleans up around the joint. She makes a mean chicken dish and also looks after Grandad who is currently living here due to sickness. He is paralysed and doesn’t usually respond to much but I gave him a clip on Koala and introduced myself the best I could in Spanish.
Mama and Papa generally work from 7-4 but come home at 12:30 for lunch. They are doctors so I’m sure that will come in handy later on down the track
Fingers crossed though. Gaby woke me up to go have a walk around the town today and boy did I get a surprise. The heat is amazing. The weather is so nice and nobody wears sunglasses here! Not one person, so I slowly took mine off and hid it in my shirt didn’t I? No-one has handbags for safety reasons and you never take more than $10 with you anywhere because trust me, $10 will cover you for a night out including dinner and a trip home.
The oddest thing though that you just don’t see in Australia is the number of homeless, stray dogs!! They are everywhere, eating everything and doing all sorts if weird things. I was advised not to touch them and to just ignore their presence but its kind of hard when they are following you and kind of demanding food haha.
Also, the old creepy men. Ignore the ‘Beautiful princess’ calls and the ‘I want to marry you’ because really any response will give them the wrong signal.
So after my exhausting day out, we went to church where the whole service is in Español, but I did recognise the tunes and certain words so I just joined in in English. Sitting in front of me, I was introduced to the German exchange student, Hannah afterwords. We spoke for a little bit and then we went back home. Tomorrow is my first Rotary meeting so fingers crossed all goes well. Mama spring on me my introduction has to be spoken in Español so I need to get my arse into gear and start learning it. Eeeek!

Lovely photos.
